More About Molly
Hey Ya’ll! I’m Molly!
It’s nice to meet you!
Here is a little more about me, how I got started, and most importantly WHY I got started in coaching.
My name is Molly and I am so excited to officially launch my website! Let me tell you a little bit about my story and how I ended up here in the first place. In 2013, I WAS STUCK! I had just graduated college with a degree in an area I thought I was going to be utilizing for the rest of my life. I was trying to force my way into an industry that didn’t suit me. And on top of that, I had just lost a parent.
Before the death of my father, I chose a major in college that was similar to what my parents did for a living, because why wouldn’t I be good at what my parents had done? Why couldn’t I do the same thing?
I found a steady job and learned a lot about the business world but nothing about my role got me over the top excited about what I was doing. I was living in a constant cloud of confusion while in search of purpose and fulfillment, on top of learning how to navigate the loss of my dad. I invested in 3 different kinds of personal assessments and met with different coaches so desperately looking for guidance and information about what my next step in my life and career was supposed to be. There are many assessments out there that can be insightful and informative, but it wasn’t until I spent time with the CliftonStrengths Assessment, that my socks were knocked off. Ever since the very moment I was exposed to strength coaching, I was hooked. I immediately saw how powerful a tool it was and how it could impact lives and perspectives for the better. When I was exposed to this process and was wowed about what I had learned about myself, all I could think of was how wonderful it would have been to have had this information sooner. Example after example ran through my head like a picture slide show of my younger self and the light bulbs of understanding flashed and flashed when I saw my strengths in action and when there was a roadblock. I have been counseling, mentoring, coaching others, mostly young people for most of my adult life. And now it is time to make it official. There is no better time than right now, so Here We Go! (you better believe we will be inserting *Nsync song here).
Now that you have gotten to know me on a deeper level here are some things you should also know. I grew up in Manhattan Beach, California, and love the ocean, but with parents from Minnesota, you will quickly learn that I am a lake girl at heart. Vacations growing up involved, snow sports, camping, fishing, and lots of boating. In 2016, I married my college boyfriend who has had his own journey influenced by the CliftonStrengths Assessment. You will always find me working on a side project. It is very hard for me to sit still. I can look into the pantry and whip up a gourmet meal, well maybe not gourmet, but pretty darn close to it, without a recipe. I have more fun making it up as I go. My mom is also an amazing cook, so I learned from the best. And lastly, if it were acceptable to be in bed by 8 pm every evening I would be.
Some things you will see on this blog in the future are success stories, parenting, and youth development information. I work full time as a school counselor so you will see information about changes in the academic world. You will see things about my family, my grief journey, and a glimpse into my personal life.
I believe that we never truly stop learning about ourselves as we continue along our journey, but sometimes we need a vocabulary that will help us describe what we are learning along the way.
So don’t stop learning! What is something you have learned about yourself today? What is something you could do to learn more about yourself today!?
Let me know in the comments!
Your Coach,
Molly
